Wool Sweaters in July

So THIS is what they mean by "moderate climate": you can wear your wool sweaters year round! How fabulous!
You think I'm joking, but I'm not; I've worn 2 wool sweaters on 2 seperate days this week alone. High summer in Ireland is a lot like mid-spring or mid-fall in Toronto; you nev er know what you're going to get from one day to the next...or even one minute to the next! I have walked to work in a t-shirt and walked home again in a t-shirt, a sweater and a jacket (plus my ever-present pashmina--thanks to the sage advice of my wise mother). Getting dressed every day is an adventure...
Still, I really can't complain; it hardly ever rains more than once or twice a day, and even then you can usually ignore it. I've only been soaked to the skin twice in the month and half that I've been here! (And this from the girl who refuses to buy or use an umbrella.) For the most part we get a mix of sun and light showers every day, which is okay by me--variety is the spice of life, or so I've been told.
The amazing thing to me is that while I adjust to the changes in temperature and, um, humidity, Dubliners seem to ignore the weather for the most part. If it is warm and sunny they're bound to be draped over every available flat surface, making the most of the moment, but if it starts to rain on them, they'll just get up and carry on with their lives; they don't put on sweaters or carry umbrellas, for the most part. Perhaps the constant change and dampness has forced them to develop a built-in self-drying system, like ducks. Hmmm.
If you're not from Dublin, though, a pashmina doesn't hurt.
